Northern Stage Rally Championship
After
the rain disrupted Dukeries Rally in June the odds were that summer must
turn up sooner or later....... in fact it was much later! The Opposite
Lock Rally at Manby had to be cancelled on the morning of the event due
to heavy overnight rain flooding the venue and leaving a 2 feet deep
lake over part of the venue. Photos of the lagoon can be seen at www.slaithwaitemc.co.uk
. With the event not starting, no points will be awarded.
I have looked at possible replacement events but have decided
that the event will not be replaced so the overall championship will
consist of the remaining 16 rounds (best 8 still to count) and the
Multi-Use Challenge will be best 5 scores from the 6 remaining rounds.
Summer
did eventually arrive in time for last week's Centenary Stages run by
Sheffield & Hallamshire MC at Twyford Wood. The weather continued to
cause problems - this time it was so dry that dust caused the shortening
of some stages and the cancellation of one stage - we can't win!
Through
the dust though came John Deegan & Chris Smith to take 115 points
away after winning their class in their Honda Civic.
With a low turnout of contenders the only other finishers were
Mark Thompson & St John Dykes with 79 points.
Alistair
Hutchinson (361) maintains his overall lead in the Driver's Championship
with John Deegan (343) moving into second ahead of Chris Peart (331).
St John
(440) maintains the Navigator's lead with Chris Smith (343) moving ahead
of Gordon Blyth (331). In the Multi-Use Challenge, Brett Mitton (314)
maintains his lead in the Driver's category ahead of Alastair (245) and
Garry Salmon (240).
St John
(342) leads in the navigators’ MU standings from Chris (234) and Steve
Dargan (220)
