Northern Stage Rally Championship

Bulletin 8 – July 2006

Here’s the latest, following the Torque BAC Stages, Bury AC’s event at Swinderby that attracted 30 contenders.

Congratulations to Howard Chopping and Jonathan Turnbull who, despite some stiff competition, won the event in their Subaru Impreza 555. There were also class wins for Steve Crowther & David Batley in the 1400cc class and Chris Platt & Mad Mick Robinson in the 1600 class. Dave Campling / James Ducker & Steve Adamson / Marcus Blenkinsop also took away class awards on the event – 2nd & 3rd in class 5 respectively. With these impressive results there were some big scores collected. Howard & Jonathan collected 116, one ahead of Chris & Mick with Steve & David a further point behind.

You may also note a few minor changes to points from the John Overend, back in May as it’s just been pointed out that I hadn’t included the handful of historic cars in the scores – although scored as a separate event for the HRCR Championship, the historics competed exactly the same event and three contenders were listed in the historic section.

So, it’s Chris Platt & Mick Robinson who take the lead in the overall Championships with Stuart Wilson / Chris Purvis 10 points behind. Keith Turner moves up to 3rd place driver and Matthew Whattam slips to 3rd in the Navigators Championship with a non-finish at Swinderby.

The Driver’s Tarmacadam Challenge is lead by Garry Salmon with Steve Crowther in second and Stuart Wilson in third. Steven Dargan leads the navigators from David Batley & Chris Purvis.

Chris Platt & Mad Mick hold healthy Multi-use leads with four very impressive scores of 100+ from four events. Stuart / Chris are in second and Steve / David in third.
