Northern Stage Rally Championship

Bulletin 6 – May 2006

Sorry for the wait for these results – things have been a bit hectic recently.

26 contenders took part in the latest round – North Humberside MC’s John Overend Memorial Stages Rally at Melbourne (well 28 really if you count Christopher & Andrew Mallinson who are registered but swapped roles on the event and were therefore ineligible to score points).

The best overall result went to Chris Myers & Matthew Whattam, 3rd overall in their Evo. Keith Turner & Steve Ward finished 6th and John Haygarth also managed a top 10 finish in the rare Opel Kadett GTE, winning the 2-litre class and collecting the highest Championship score in the process, 115 points. Second highest score went to Chris Platt & “Mad” Mick Robinson with 108 points for second in the 1600cc class, followed by Chris & Matthew who scored 106.

Stuart Wilson & Chris Purvis have take the overall lead with Chris Platt & Mick Robinson just 9 points behind, albeit from one less event. In third are Nigel Barber in the Drivers Championship and Matthew Whattam in the Navigator’s Championship. However, Chris & Mick turn the tables in the Multi-Use Challenge, keeping their lead and holding off Stuart & Chris. Third place is currently the property of Richard Wormald & Tracey Taylor-West.

Good luck if you’re out on the next two rounds. With only a week between them and a business trip and a holiday around the same time it’s unlikely I’ll get an update out before mid July.

 Mike
