Northern Stage Rally Championship

Bulletin 2 – February 2006

Last weekend’s Riponian Stages was the first forest round of this year’s championship. Despite a relatively low turnout, both overall and of contenders, I have heard some good reports about the event. Please drop me an e-mail with your personal views on any event you do.

The Riponian stuck to it’s usual format based at the Lightwater Valley Theme Park, near Ripon with opening and closing stages there and the remainder of the stages in the little used forests at the top of Sutton Bank and near Helmsley. 25 contenders entered with top score (113) going to Nigel Barber who won the 2-litre class in his Astra. Next up were Dave Craven & Ian Jackson (95) and Alan Richardson / Chris Roe (91).

As one of only two crews to finish both of the first two rounds, its Garry Johnson & Phill Bond who take an early lead in the overall Championship. Looks like it’s a 1.6 Corsa that’s now up for target practice!

 Miscellaneous

I’m still working on the replacement event for Grizedale as mentioned in bulletin 1. I hope to have some news for you in the next bulletin.

As you might have gathered already – many events this year are likely to be oversubscribed so please ensure you get your entries in early. Much as I’d like to be able to influence these things,  – I cannot help you get event entries if you delay.

I hope to see some of you in Blackpool in a couple of week’s time. Promises to be a good event. Good luck!

 Mike
