Northern Stage Rally Championship

Bulletin 14 – November 2006

With the completion of the recent Malton Forest Rally there remains just one round to complete this year’s Championship. The MFR, a new event to the championship was reasonably well supported with 18 contenders taking part in the compact event with two loops of stages through Cropton, Gale Rigg and Pickering Showground, where the event was based.

Top score of 114 points went to Darren Moon & John McNichol in their Mark 2 Escort, winning the 2-litre class on the event. Dave Craven was next  up with 109 points for 4th in the large over 2-litre class, followed by Alan Richardson & Chris Roe, class winners in the smaller 1400cc class. These scores mean that Dave retains the Forest Challenge lead by 91 points but Darren is still capable of winning the challenge on the final round with a very good score. Keith Turner is assured of the class 4 award in the challenge, with all the other classes still undecided. In the navigators section of the Forest Challenge, John McNichol leads but Steve Ward, Chris Roe or Ian Jackson could still win and therefore the class awards are also unresolved. In fact, in class 2 there is the possibility of someone doing well in the class on Grizedale winning the class 2 awards such has been the low turnout in this class in the Challenge.

2007 Calendar

Next year’s Championship will follow the same format as this year with best 8 scores counting for the overall Championship and best 5 scores from 7 events in each of the separate Challenges. The calendar is enclosed with this bulletin. I hope that it will tempt you back for more! Regs will be available shortly and I will automatically send you a set with the final results after Grizedale.

Please take time to check all the scores to date and raise any queries with me straight away. That way, once the final round is completed I can finalise the results.

Good luck for the last round of the Championship.

Mike
