Northern Stage Rally ChampionshipBulletin
9 – July 2005 Finally on the Opposite
Lock I got my chance to impress the world with my driving ability (?)
– it lasted one mile before I stuck it into a ditch – oops! After
being extricated, I had a great time. My aim was to have a good laugh
and to finish – I accomplished both. I even won a pot for the best
Slaithwaite MC driver! I hope you enjoyed the event as much as I did –
the loose tracks were excellent fun. I only hope I can do it again
sometime. I managed to catch up with many of you – it was good to see
you. Apologies if I didn’t get to meet everyone. Showing me how it
should be done were Matt Tarbutt and Martyn Pullan who won class 1
easily in their Nova and Dave Hemingway who won the 2-litre class. The
event was not as good for some - James Coates rolled his Astra and
retired, Anthony Hellewell also rolled but finished and Greg
Wilkinson’s Cossy was looking very second hand at the end of the
event. Richard Wormald also had to retire after he made his wife sick
– not a good move! The event has certainly
changed things at the top of the tables. Roger Priestnall’s long run
at the top of the Overall Driver’s Championship comes to an end as
Mark Thompson moves into a slender 4 point lead. Greg Wilkinson is a
further 13 points behind. There are though 6 drivers with over 500
points so things are shaping up well for the later events. In the
Navigator’s Championship Giles Dykes has a 56 point lead from Chris
Smith with Tim Croft in 3rd.
In the Multi-Use Challenge Stephen Oade leads from Mark Thompson
& John Deegan but with 1 round left Alister Hutchinson and could
also win the Challenge. Tim leads the navigator’s section from Giles
and Chris but St John Dykes could also win it. Weeton should be good
fun. Next Events WA
