Northern Stage Rally Championship

Bulletin 6 – April 2005

The latest round of the Championship was the Phoenix Stages, held at Fulbeck. Counting towards the Multi-Use Challenge the event was held on mixed surface stages that seem to have offered a real challenge to a number of crews. Continuing their excellent start to the year, Roger Priestnall and Jamie Forrest took top points (110) after winning the 1600cc class, giving Roger a comfortable 137 point lead in the overall Championship and moving Jamie into 3rd spot. Stephen Oade / Tim Croft also won their class, collecting 108 points for heading the 1400cc class. John Deegan and Chris Smith also put in a good performance in their new Honda Civic, despite a rather poor seeding. John moves up to 3rd overall behind Dave Hemingway and Chris moves to 2nd overall to put the pressure on Plug Pulleyn who has missed the last couple of rounds.

The results from the Phoenix mean that the Multi-Use Challenge scores are extremely tight, with Roger leading by just a single point from Stephen who in turn is one point ahead of John. In the Multi-Use Navigators table Tim again leads by a single point from Chris with St John Dykes moving up to third. Looks like this challenge is worth keeping a close eye on with 3 more multi-use events in the next two months.

Next Events

Event organisers seem to be on the ball with the next four events having regs out.

John Overend Memorial Rally, Sunday 15th May, www.northhumbersidemotorclub.co.uk

This event will run at Melbourne near York. 52 miles of mixed surface stages are on offer for £165. You should have received regs by now so if not, please contact Cynthia Mumby            01482 840756. Up to date entries are shown on the website.

Proflex Stages, Saturday 28th May, www.proflexrally.co.uk

It would appear that this event has been heavily over subscribed and that many people have got “deferred” entries for this popular event at the Leyland test track. I understand that the organisers will be giving priority on the remaining spaces to championship contenders so I will do what I can to try and ensure you get a run. Event contact is Jill Foster, 01254 872935.

Rainworth Skoda Dukeries Rally, Saturday 18th June, www.dukeries-rally.co.uk

Regs for the next forest event will be sent out in early May. This event is likely to be popular as a round of the BTRDA as well as many regional championships.

Tudor Glass Torque Bac Stages, Sunday 26th June, www.torquebac.co.uk

Bury AC’s event is to be held at Swinderby near Lincoln. Event : 8 Stages offering approximately 65 Stage Miles on tarmac and concrete runways and perimeter roads for £170. Event contact is John Cope, 0161 761 1847
