Northern Stage Rally Championship

BULLETIN 10 – SEPTEMBER 2005

An eventful Pendragon Stages by the looks of it... only 6 of the 14 Championship crews finishing the event. The event was based in Penrith with the majority of stages at the Warcop MOD Ranges supplemented by stages at Lowther Park . Limited feedback so far but all positive, despite the high retirement rate. Best performance on the day was from Andy Bird / Plug Pulleyn, third overall and in the over 2-litre class. Also third in class were Steve Crowther / David Batley in the upto 1400cc class. Only other finishers were Ian Wheatley / Fred Roberts, Keith Taylor / Andrew Mason, Mark Thompson / Giles Dykes and Mike Kent / Colin Stockil. Although not one of their best results, the finish was sufficient to put Mark & Giles at tithe top of the overall championships. Roger Priestnall who retired late on is in second place with Greg Wilkinson holding on to 3rd in the driver’s championship. Chris Smith holds second in the Navigator’s Championship with Fred moving into third.  Steve and David now head the Tarmacadam Challenge from Mark & Giles with Alister Hutchison and St John Dykes holding third. With two tarmacadam rounds remaining this still looks like a potentially very open race to the end.

The Hall Trophy sees the final Multi Use round of the year (where’s the year going?!).  With four drivers and an equal number of navigators still capable of winning the M-U challenge then it looks like there will be some fun and games in Blackpool this weekend.
