Northern Stage Rally Championship
Bulletin
6 – May 2004
The latest round of the
Championship, the Bloodhound Stages at Swinderby, proved very popular.
The event attracted an impressive entry of 120 crews including 37
contenders (39 if you count two drivers who swapped seats for the day
and were not therefore eligible for points). With large classes there
were some excellent scores. Top of the pile was Chris Platt who won the
1600cc class in his new Tigra (116 points). Close behind were Richard
Wormald / Dave Hammond who were second in the 2-litre class (115
points), and also finished inside the top ten, and Robert Barrett /
Gavin Wright (110), second in the amalgamated up to 1400cc classes. Richard
& Dave’s scores were sufficient to elevate them to the top of the
overall Championships ahead of Chris Peart / Gordon Blythe. Nick Dobson
has moved up to 3rd in the Driver’s Championship. Chris
Smith hangs grimly onto 3rd spot in the Navigator’s
Championship despite yet another retirement. In the Single Venue
Challenge, Richard heads Chris Platt by 9 points with Mark Thompson some
distance behind. In the Navigator’s section, Dave has a comfortable
lead over Andy Welborn and Chris Smith. In
the classes, John Deegan and Chris Smith lead class 1, but Matt Tarbutt
is closing in on John. Bob Marshall & Richard Hage retain the class
2 lead with Richard Wormald / Dave Hammond leading class 3. Alex Taylor
hangs onto the class 4 lead for the Drivers, whilst Jane Fox moves to
the head of the Navigators in class 4. Next
