Northern Stage Rally ChampionshipBulletin
12 – December 2004 It's
nearly Christmas and that means yet another season's rallying is
completed. The Grizedale Stages Rally, based up in Coniston in the Lake
District saw the concluding round of the 2004 Championship. It was great
to see the Driver's title decided on the last round with Richard Wormald
and Nick Dobson both capable of winning the title. Richard was in a
strong position but never having been in the forests before anything
could have happened. Unfortunately, Nick didn't make it to the end of
the first stage, leaving Richard with a more comfortable day than he was
probably expecting, to take the 2004 overall driver's title with Dave
"I'm already Champion" Hammond on the maps. - Commiserations
to Nick - a bill for repairs just before Christmas is no way to end a
great year. Many
of the other awards depended on who finished where overall, so now the
dust (mud?!) has settled, here's the list of provisional winners for
2004.
These
results will remain provisional until 24th December 2003.
Should anyone have any queries relating to the results these should be
raised with me as soon as possible. Should any changes be necessary that
affect the allocation of any award then the results will be reissued to
all contenders with a second time allowance for protest. Otherwise the
results will be declared final. I
would like to congratulate all award winners, Richard
and Dave - worthy Champions after some excellent results and good
consistency throughout the year. I
would also like to express my thanks to all contenders for supporting
the Championship – I hope that you have enjoyed this year’s
Championship and that you will be back for more in 2005. Thanks also to
Kent Cams for their continued support and the all the
organisers
of the events this year and to Steve Smith for maintaining the website. Awards
Presentation The
awards will be presented at Whitcliffe Mount Sports
Centre,
Cleckheaton (Map Ref 104/(104/180256)
on Friday 4th February
2005 from 8pm. The venue is
close to the M62 motorway. ALL AWARD WINNERS MUST ATTEND, ARRANGE A
REPRESENTATIVE TO COLLECT THEIR AWARD OR MAKE ALTERNATIVE ARRANGEMENTS
WITH ME IN ADVANCE. Otherwise you will forfeit your trophy
(SR 17). Next
Year Yes,
it’s all starting again very shortly! Included with this bulletin you
will find details of the 2005 Championship. In a change to previous
years there will be three Challenges – Tarmacadam, Forest and
Multi-Use. There has been a lot of interest in a Tarmacadam championship
but lack of decent sealed surface multi-venue events within the
Association has prevented me running one. In 2005 I’m please to say
that we now have some worthy events. I hope that the Championship will
continue to appeal – it should give affordable (in rallying terms!)
options and a format for novices to progress without the expense of
joining national championships. Regs
will be posted to you over Christmas but will be available earlier on
the website should you wish to submit an early entry and give me
something to read with my Christmas pud! A
word of warning though – please submit entries for the first rounds
without delay as the Jack frost is already filling up, regs for the
riponian are already out and the NW Stages in particular is going to be
heavily over subscribed I think.
The NW Stages will be based in Blackpool with stages on the promenade,
Weeton, Leyland, Pontins and Clifton You
should all get regs for the first events but
please do not delay! Next
