Northern Stage Rally Championship

Bulletin 10 – September 2004

After the lengthy gap since the Opposite Lock Rally the latest round of the Championship was the Wolds Rally at Swinderby.  There were some excellent performances and the top scores on the event were very close. Chris Platt / Michael Robinson won the 1600c class and Robert Barrett / Gavin Wright won the small capacity class. With both classes being the same size, both crews left with an equal 114 points. Just behind were Mark Thompson and Giles Dykes with 112 for 2nd in the 2-litre class.

Despite retiring on the Wolds Nick Dobson and Richard Wormald hang on to the top two spots in the overall driver’s championship. Mark Thompson moves up to 3rd but unless he starts one of the two remaining MV events he will be ineligible for the overall awards. In the Navigator’s championship it is a similar story with Dave Hammond still leading from Gordon Blythe with Gavin Wright moving to 3rd but Gavin also needs to start a MV event to be eligible.

In the SV Challenge Richard leads from Mark and Robert Barrett with Chris Platt in 4th. Only 18 points separate the four so the Harold Palin should be interesting! In the SV Navigators standings Dave leads from Gavin with Giles in 3rd – again it’s close with 21 points separating them.

In the classes Robert and Gavin have finally overtaken John Deegan and Chris Smith to lead in class 1. Chris Platt and Michael Robinson lead class 2. There is no change in class 3 with Nick Dobson and Dave Hammond leading. In class 4 Greg Wilkinson and Jonathan Padgett have taken over from Jon and Jane Fox but there is only 12 points in it.

So with 3 events to go there are lots of close scores and things to be sorted – have fun!

HELP! (Please!)

I have started compiling next year’s calendar but have hardly been inundated by suggestions – err, none actually! Please let me know your preferences for events to be included.

A note to event organisers – there are a number of obvious omissions from the list of 2005 events I have to choose from - including some events that were rounds this year!  Please ensure that your club has submitted it’s dates for it’s rallies for 2005 to the ANCC Secretary and that any clashes are resolved – otherwise I cannot consider your event. You have been warned!

Good luck on the Trackrod and Harold Palin events – there will not be a bulletin issued in between.

Mike
