Northern Stage Rally ChampionshipBulletin
1 – January 2004 Welcome
to the 2004 Championship. There has been an enthusiastic start to this
year’s championship – registrations have already topped the 60 mark
and there was a good turn out on the first round last weekend. For
those of you new to the Championship, my aim is to issue results updates
and a bulletin on a regular basis throughout the year. Occasionally, due
to closeness of events, delays in getting results or work getting in the
way, there may not be updates after every single events but I will try
and minimise these occasions. The bulletins will be used for showing how
the Championship is progressing and passing on news of future events.
The results and bulletins are e-mailed to nearly every ANCC club – if
anyone would like to be added to the circulation list then let me know.
Remember, this is your Championship – let me know of any news you
have, and any feedback on events. If you need a driver / navigator for a
particular event let me know and I’ll do my bets to publicise it so
you can doe the events you want. I’m planning on competing on the odd
round too – something I haven’t done too much of in recent years, so
I hope to be able to meet most of you throughout the year. I don’t
conduct signing on though so please ensure you take your registration
cards to events in case the organisers need to see these. Round
1 – Jack Frost Stages, Croft For
the third successive year, Darlington & DMC provided the first round
of the Championship. Although there was not a full entry this year,
there were 24 contenders that journeyed to Croft – a significant
increase on the number that entered last year. There were also some very
good scores to kick off the year. In fact only Steven Crowther / David
Batley failed to finish. Top score went to Richard Wormald / Dave Hanlon
who won the 2-litre class. The request for another set of Championship
decals would suggest that at times they came a little closer to the
scenery than intended! Last year’s third place crew, John Deegan and
Chris Smith also started 2004 in style winning the 1400cc class ahead of
Stephen Oade / Tim Croft. Chris Platt / Michael Robinson were second in
the 1600cc class. Best ANCC Championship award went to Stephen Simpson
& Mark Booth for their 5th overall. Next
