Northern Road Rally ChampionshipBULLETIN NO. 5, AUGUST 2004 Firstly my
apologies to all contenders for the ongoing lack of bulletins this year,
work and other commitments are keeping me very busy and will continue to
do so for the next couple of months. However I will try to get some
updated tables onto the ANCC website after the St Wilfrid’s as well as
downloadable versions of the previous four similarly short bulletins,
which have been handed out on events so some of you may have actually
received one or more of them. On
a similar line, no progress regarding the forum which I was hoping to
arrange for this Summer, but I have not given up on the idea and it
seems more relevant now as it the MSA may soon be under pressure to
‘freshen up’ the technical regs. A forum would provide everyone with
a chance to put in their twopennyworth and we could submit our thoughts
direct to the Rallies Committee. Anyone who would be prepared to help
plan and organize a forum please get in touch! The
tables after the Three Swans are attached, as ever there are bound to be
some errors and omissions so let me know as soon as you can if you spot
something. The more keen-eyed will notice some retrospective changes to
round 1, my apologies for this and to Trevor and Chris Faulkner whose
registration I managed to misplace. As a result I have re-calculated the
points for the Bruce so some of you will now have a point or two less. Finally
a quick thought for 2005 – at your next club meeting, make sure your
club has submitted its dates and paid its subs to the ANCC, to make sure
you can still compete and also so that all events who want to be can be
considered for the 2005 championship.

EVENTS
25TH
/ 26TH JUNE, ROUND 6, THREE SWANS RALLY, SELBY &
DMC Many thanks to Dave Coggins and the team from Selby for another well put together event. They were overwhelmed by an excellent entry who tested the toast making facilities at the finish to their limits! Any Beaumont & Mike Petch repeated their 2003 win but only after Danny Robinson & Ian Gibbins were excluded for a give way infringement. This cast a shadow over the results at the finish and it was a shame for both the organizers who were open about how they would be observing give ways from the outset and the crew concerned, who are to be congratulated for taking the decision in a very sporting manner although their disappointment at missing out on a maiden win was clear for all to see. Something else for us to discuss in a forum, I think.
FORTHCOMING
EVENTS
11TH
/ 12TH SEPTEMBER – ROUND 8, DANUM RALLY, LINDHOLME MSC Regs should be out in the very near future for this event, running I believe on maps 112 and 113. Definitely one for the navigators this, so if you like your plot and bash then this is a must do event. If you don’t want to take up the challenge then please come out and marshal instead. 25TH
/ 26TH SEPTEMBER – ROUND 9, WESTMORLAND RALLY, EDEN VALLEY
MC No details received as yet but our most Northerly round gains more support each year and is well worth the journey for some cracking roads in Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Usually starts and finishes at M6 Junction 38 Tebay Truck Stop. 6TH
/ 7TH NOVEMBER – ROUND 10, VISUAL PACKAGING COSSACK RALLY, EASTWOOD & DMC I don’t need to tell you anything about this event, the Eastwood publicity machine is up and running so you should have a flier with this bulletin. All I will say is enter early to avoid disappointment! 12TH
/ 13TH NOVEMBER – INTER ASSOCIATION RALLY, NORTHERN IRELAND Yes the date is correct, this is a Friday night – they do things a lot differently over there! If you fancy finding out just how different then let me know, we are the defending champions (since there was no event in 2003) and so have to put up a good show. Some form of financial support will be available from the Association as obviously this is a fair haul, more details when available. 27TH
/ 28TH NOVEMBER – ROUND 11, BEAVER RALLY, BEVERLEY &
DMC
