Northern Road Rally ChampionshipBULLETIN NO. 2, APRIL 2004 Due
to my commitments with Ilkley &
DMC’s Jubilee Historic Rally I won’t be at the VK Derbyshire Rally,
I hope you have an enjoyable night whether competing or marshalling. It
looks a good entry, even if some of the seeding appears a little random!
Those of you who are marshalling tonight should have seen an ‘extra’
signing-on sheet, which should be on all events from now on. This should
enable me to allocate marshalling points for each event without you
having to chase me up and request them. So from now on, if you are out
marshalling and want to claim points, please make sure you sign the
extra sheet. The
latest tables are on the reverse of this bulletin, I have also included
a reminder of how the scores are calculated for the benefit of our new
contenders and those older ones who may have forgotten! All being well I will see you on the Witch Way in May.

PAST
EVENTS
20TH
/ 21ST MARCH,
ROUND 2, RYEMOOR TROPHY, MALTON MC From what I saw on the
night and all the reports I have had back this was a well run and
enjoyable event. I am pleased to report that you lot all made much more
effort to give way at the junction I was observing than the last time I
was out – I assume those of you who got a warning behaved themselves
for the rest of the night as there were no exclusions shown on the
results! Congratulations to Steve Webster & Roger Hage for winning the event,
commiserations to Dan Robinson & Ian Gibbins who lead most of the
night before a wrong-slot towards the end dropped them to second, still
an excellent result though. Plenty of other ANCC crews in the top ten as
you would expect, most notably Dave Chapman & David Taylor in 4th,
just a couple of seconds ahead of 2003 winners Stan Featherstone &
Mike Ogram. Malcolm Grisdale & Bob Hargreaves had a bit of an ‘off’ which
has left the Subaru a little worse for wear but more importantly they
are both OK. They have asked me to thank Dan & Ian for stopping to
extract them from the field and also to all the other crews who stopped
to check they were alright. Well done to all concerned, good to see you
are all looking out for each other. Hopefully we will see Mal & Bob
out competing again later in the year in some new machinery. Thanks to all the team at Malton MC for putting on an excellent event and all the marshals on a blustery night.
FORTHCOMING
EVENTS
8TH
/ 9TH MAY – ROUND 4, WITCH WAY RALLY, PENDLE DMC Still starting at the Anchor in Gargrave, but venturing into different
territory this year, on maps 103, 104 and 110. Simple navigation by map
references only but still a very competitive event . Regs should be with
you already, I hear that the entry is filling up nicely. There should be
a few Welsh lads over as this is an ANWCC round so we need lots of you
to out competing to uphold ANCC honours! Contact Neil Bye on 01282
452429 if you haven’t received regs. 12TH
/ 13TH JUNE – ROUND 5, MEMORIAL RALLY, GARSTANG &
PRESTON MC The
return of an event that was a championship round a few years ago. Runs a
bit further West than some of our crews may be used to, over on map 102.
Regs should be out in the next few weeks. More details when available. A
CHANGE LATER IN THE YEAR…. 24TH
/ 25TH SEPT – NEW DATE FOR EDEN VALLEY’S WESTMORLAND Not
ideal as it is just two weeks after the Danum and clashes with the
Mercian, but the best that could be arranged after EVMC had to move away
from their Pendragon Stages in July. I am sure it will still be a
cracking event and hope many of you will support it. Please note that I
am still using up the last of the calendars printed in January so this
change is not yet shown on some of the paperwork you may have picked up. |
